Tucked away in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe offers a rustic yet elegant oasis for both the adventurous traveler and retreat aficionado. Offering gorgeous mountain views, a crystal-clear lake, legendary skiing, a slopeside spa, and exceptional dining, this luxurious California resort offers something for everyone – including the beautiful alpine backdrop of Lake Tahoe.

In June 2023, Continental Contractors began a four-month guest room renovation, upscaling 188 guest rooms and suites across five floors, as well as the hotel’s Club Lounge — Phase One of a multi-million dollar project at the luxury AAA Five Diamond resort. According to Luxury Travel Magazine, “This transformative project reaffirms the resort’s commitment to providing an unparalleled level of luxury and comfort, seamlessly blending contemporary elegance with the natural beauty of its surroundings.”

To achieve the desired aesthetic, Continental expertly installed 16”x16” black ash stone flooring, new window treatments, fresh paint, updated vinyl wall coverings, plush carpeting, and a sophisticated case good and FF&E package. Bathrooms were also upgraded with modern vinyl wall coverings, fresh paint, new accessories, and meticulously polished marble. Hotel suites were refreshed with elegant window treatments, new paint, vinyl wall coverings, modern bath accessories, and refined marble.

The popular Club Lounge, which had become dated, was significantly modified with a complete overhaul of the space. It now touts a revitalized storefront, comprehensive millwork package, updated flooring, and stylish new tile work, showcasing elegant marble and stone finishes throughout.

In the fall of 2023, Continental Contractors moved on to Phase Two, which included an extensive upgrade of the resort’s public spaces. One standout feature was the conversion of hotel office space into a Topgolf Swing Suite, an interactive simulator offering more than 84 golf courses, three engaging golf target games, as well as eight non-golf activities. A true stand-out feature that certainly elevates the guest experience.

“The biggest feat during this project,” said Project Executive Dan Sciortino, “was doing the amount of work we did throughout these various projects while the hotel remained open and fully operational. This is a luxury resort with a very demanding clientele so minimizing our impact on the day to day operations was critical. I was really proud of the team.”

In addition to guestrooms and the Topgolf Suite, Continental also revitalized the lobby boutique, market, spa, lobby, living room and bar, meeting spaces, fitness center, restaurant, and the outdoor cabana area, all of which were updated with top-tier design features and finishes. The overall transformation of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe took 19 months and was completed in December 2024, just in time for New Year celebrations.
