JW Marriott Austin Phase I & II
Austin, TX
BUDGET: $13.8M+
OWNER: White Lodging
Located in the heart of downtown Austin, the JW Marriott Austin is known for its luxury comforts, sophisticated amenities, and some of the largest guestrooms in the city – complete with floor-to-ceiling windows and access to more than 120,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Steps from the city’s top attractions and just moments from the Austin Convention Center, the hotel serves as an upscale urban retreat for travelers. In 2025, Continental Contractors completed a multi-phase renovation of the property’s guestrooms, suites, and public spaces, bringing refreshed finishes, modern details, and elevated character to this premier destination.
Continental Contractors began a two-phase renovation at JW Marriott Austin in July 2024 encompassing the hotel’s 981 guest rooms, 30 suites, expansive meeting spaces, and signature public areas. The seven-month renovation was completed in August 2025.
Phase I – Guestrooms, Suites & Meeting Spaces
Phase I centered on refreshing the property’s large inventory of guestrooms and suites. Continental installed new wallcovering, paint, and carpet throughout, paired with upgraded lighting to introduce a brighter, more contemporary feel. Suites received enhanced design touches, including custom chandeliers and new millwork that features metal wire-mesh minibars. Guest bathrooms were updated with new vanity bases and a deep steam cleaning of wall and floor tile to restore their original luster.
Meeting and public spaces were also revitalized with new carpet, paint, and vinyl wallcoverings — creating a seamless and cohesive design experience across floors and functions.
Phase II – Public Space Transformation
Phase II delivered a dramatic reimagining of the hotel’s primary public spaces. Continental led a full renovation of the restaurant – now the Corner Restaurant – and built a brand-new market to enhance guest convenience. Significant upgrades were made in the lobby, including extensive metal millwork screening, a redesigned fireplace wrapped in new stone cladding, and the installation of a custom copper sculpture inspired by Austin’s iconic flight of bats, an urban wildlife attraction. These elements combine to create a warm, locally inspired welcome to the JW Marriott experience.
