The Sunset Tower
West Hollywood, CA
BUDGET: $1.37 million
OWNER: STH Tenant, LLC
Perched atop Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, CA, the Sunset Tower Hotel has been an iconic piece of Los Angeles since 1929. Now a historic landmark, this hotel was the fashionable place to live during the golden era of Hollywood — home to the likes of Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and other celebrities of the day. In 2018 Continental was brought in to renovate this historic spot, tasked with restoring the heart and soul of the building without compromising its signature character and charm. In a span of four months, Continental renovated 83 guestrooms and suites with a refreshing “chic and elegant” design while maintaining the Art Deco style reminiscent of the 1920s and 30s. Cove lighting, bold artwork, and french-inspired decor added to the romance of the main living space, while the stunning signature-designed gold and black vinyl wallpaper elevated the look of the bathroom. The Tower Bar and Restaurant, housed in Bugsy Siegel’s former apartment, was also redone as part of the renovation project. Continental offered this notorious locale a fresh update with new wood paneling, millwork updates to the bar area, and new lighting features throughout. All while maintaining the same classic style and understated elegance that attracted the stars and starlets of the past.
