Optimism: The Tested Motto of the Hospitality Industry
The Lodging Conference 2022 in Phoenix has just wrapped up, and it did not disappoint. A record crowd of more than 2,500 participants packed the general sessions and think tank panels, and overall the mood was one of optimism and enthusiasm.
Key Takeaways from the BisNow Lodging & Investment Summit
Earlier this month Continental’s Hailey Marchyshyn and Renee Bagshaw attended the BisNow Lodging Summit in Washington, D.C. Hailey joined Continental earlier this summer, and brings a unique perspective to her new position as an Assistant Project Manager. With experience gained from working in both subcontractor roles and the ownership and management side of hospitality, she appreciates the nuances inherent to every hotel renovation. Ready for the Return
While many of us have been traveling again for nearly a year, visiting properties and meeting with partners and colleagues, last month seemed to mark the return of the conference circuit in the hospitality industry. From intimate industry gatherings to the mega trade shows, there is no denying that hospitality professionals were, and are, ready. We are ready to travel, to find solutions, to make deals, and to celebrate surviving the last 18 months.
Connections and Celebrations at the Lodging Conference
The hospitality industry is home to some truly amazing folks. And at the Lodging Conference in Phoenix, we had an opportunity to celebrate one of them. Continental was honored to host a champagne toast to Gilda Perez-Alvarado, Global CEO of JLL Hotels & Hospitality, following her receipt of The Castell Award at the Lodging Conference. We love seeing people with a passion for the hospitality industry get recognized for their contributions. Thank you to Peggy Berg, Harry Javer, Emily Pavelka Mueller, Karin Harrington, and Michelle Finn and all those who helped put together a lovely event.
3 Hot Topics from This Year’s The Lodging Conference
The 25th anniversary of The Lodging Conference kicked off on September 23rd amid torrential downpours in the Phoenix desert. Breaking with tradition, this year’s event was at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. While some of us were initially nostalgic for the iconic campus and sprawling open lawns of the Arizona Biltmore Waldorf Astoria Resort, by our third day at the JW, the updated conference amenities, convenient additional guestrooms, and exceptional hotel staff won us over. Despite the soggy start and new location, this year’s conference topped 2,000 attendees!
