One of the newest additions to Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels, The Jay San Francisco, is located in the middle of the city’s most iconic downtown neighborhoods, with close proximity to many popular attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, the Embarcadero, Union Square, Golden Gate Bridge, and more. And, as if that wasn’t reason enough to stay in this newly renovated gem, each room features strategically placed, floor-to-ceiling angled windows inviting natural light in while offering breathtaking views of the Bay, historic Coit Tower, and the beautiful downtown skyline.

In April 2023, Continental Contractors began a seven-month, 360-guestroom renovation at The Jay – formerly Le Meridien. The renovated guestroom design plan spanning 24 floors required meticulous attention to detail and precise execution, tasks the Continental team executed beautifully. “This was a very difficult downtown project but the transformation is incredible and delivered with exceptional quality,” said Continental Contractors President & CEO Pete Welch. “Very impressive work carried out by our impressive West Coast team.”

Unique elements like warm oak wood screens with bronze mirror detailing, custom closet doors inspired by the building’s facade, and a stone-and-walnut console combining the desk, dresser, and minifridge, add distinctive touches to the guestrooms while maintaining a certain air of relaxing sophistication. Custom lighting and soft carpets further enhance the aesthetic.

“There was a major transformation to all areas of the hotel,” said Project Executive David Mattock. “High quality FF&E, speciality vinyl wall coverings, high end tile, and sleek black fixtures in the guestrooms all add to that extra touch of luxury.” Of course the property’s most exquisite room needed some special treatment as well. “The Penthouse received specialty clay paint along with custom millwork, wood flooring, and a five-fixture bathroom. It’s really something special.” Read more about the intricate design details incorporated by the San Francisco studio design firm AvroKO in this article from Hotel Management
